Just a 9-minute drive from Aspire, Aliso Canyon is a highly trafficked 5.5-kilometer out-and-back trail. It features beautiful wildflowers and offers paths suitable for hikers of all skill levels. The trail stays open year-round and provides a variety of activities. You can bring your dog along, but they must be kept on a leash. The canyon is lush with trees and shows off stunning panoramic views of the city.
CSUN Pond
Even in the city, there are places to enjoy tranquility, nature, and water—like the CSUN Pond. Near the orange groves off of Nordhoff and Lindley, this lovely spot provides a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life. Turtles, ducks, geese, and dragonflies make their home in this large pond. As you picnic, you can read quietly or take in the wildlife around you.
Limekiln Canyon Trail
An 8-minute drive away, Limekiln Canyon Trail is a 6.1-kilometer out-and-back trail in Porter Ranch, CA that features beautiful wildflowers. Hikers of all abilities will love this popular trail. The LA Times writes that it is “an unexpected delight in an unlikely location: a raw, wild, open space amid Northridge's well-kept gated housing development.”
