Go for a Scenic Hike on Northridge Trails
Hiking is a fun way to enjoy a workout among some of Los Angeles' most picturesque scenery.
If you would like to lace up your boots, head to one of these trails near our Northridge apartments where you'll find exciting adventures ranging from easy to challenging:
Hummingbird Trail
With climbs through gorgeous rock formations, it's no wonder that Hummingbird is one of the area's most popular hiking trails. It gains 1,000 feet in elevation and intersects with the Rocky Peak Fire Road, where hikers can turn around or continue for another 1.7 miles. Every turn features impressive views, and along the way, you may spot rabbits, hawks, and croaking frogs. Don't forget to look for the secret cave.
Caballero Canyon Trail
An access point to Topanga State Park, the Caballero Canyon Trail ascends over 625 feet in 1.7 miles. The path starts by passing the sycamore trees lining the bottom of the canyon, and hikers quickly leave the city behind. Explorers take in views of the San Fernando Valley and find the hills provide an excellent workout.
Caballero Canyon passes the Sullivan Ridge Trail for those who want to extend their hike. This intermediate trail features beautiful vistas, colorful wildflowers, and a landmark tree that's a natural turn-around point.
Cave of Munits & Castle Peak Trail
For an action-packed adventure, don't miss the trail leading to both the Cave of Munits and Castle Peak. Spanning 2.1 miles, it begins where the San Fernando Valley meets the Simi Hills. Despite the short distance, the attractions are in two different counties. The Cave of Munits is approximately 15 feet wide and features a spectacular cathedral ceiling. After exploring, continue to Castle Peak, where you'll enjoy unforgettable canyon views.
