Feeling Festive? Check Out These Holiday Events in LA
Winter is here — Los Angeles style! You're more likely to see sunshine than snow, and a sweatshirt is more useful here than a ski jacket, but that doesn't take away from the holiday cheer.
There are plenty of activities and events to keep you busy all winter long. Here are a few to mark your calendar for.
SEE THE LIGHTS
Now that the nights are longer, it's fun to see familiar places now decorated with colorful and festive lights. Grand Park is offering its second annual nighttime public art display called Winter Glow. It takes place on Performance Lawn and The Music Center Plaza until December 25th.
Another option is the Arboretum's Moonlight Forest Magical Lantern Art Festival. From now through January 12th, see the Arboretum as you've never seen it before. The lantern displays are created by artists from the Sichuan Province of China.
ENJOY A WINTER WONDERLAND
Are you longing to see snow? Visit the Orange County Winter Fest in nearby Costa Mesa. Real snow is dropped in every day, creating a magical wintery world. You can go ice skating, try a snowboard simulator, go on carnival ride, challenge SoCal's largest ice tubing slide, and even see fireworks! It all takes place at the OC Fair & Event Center on 88 Fair Drive. The festival runs from December 19th to January 5th.
SHOP TILL YOU DROP
Visit Grand Central Market on the weekends of December 14th-15th and December 21st-22nd for their annual holiday marketplace. Local makers will sell art, clothing, jewelry, records, books, and lots more. Just because it isn't snowing, doesn't mean you can't have some winter fun! From seeing the lights, to eating and drinking, to getting your holiday shopping done, there are plenty of events to make your winter a memorable one.
