Culture from Your Couch: Los Angeles Museums Offering Virtual Tours
If you've reached the end of all that is binge-worthy on Netflix and organized your pantry beyond recognition, it may be time to consider elevating your stay-at-home activities by infusing them with a bit of culture. A mecca of art and entertainment lies just down the road from our Northridge apartments, and now you don't even need to leave your couch to get your fill of local enrichment. Check out these virtual tours of Los Angeles museums and begin your science and art odyssey today.
The Getty
The Getty Museum houses pre-20th-century European paintings, sculpture, photography, and decorative art pieces. Perhaps its most notable artwork is Vincent van Gogh's Irises, which the museum purchased in 1990 after its enormous $53.9 million sale just three years earlier. Thanks to Google's Arts and Culture initiative, you can see Irises and many other Getty works as if you were walking through the museum yourself, without ever leaving home.
California Science Center
The California Science Center also stands ready to entertain and educate you in the comfort of your home with their "Stuck at Home Science" activities for families using supplies that you likely have on hand. The Science Center offers further learning opportunities with virtual tours, including one of the space shuttle Endeavour and a virtual hands-on science camp for kids.
ICA LA
The Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (ICA LA) in Downtown Los Angeles extends their free admission proposition directly into your home with a full page of virtual resources designed to enrich and delight. View exhibitions from 2019 and 2020 from the convenience of your laptop or smartphone.
